Program Admission Requirements

We take great pride in the rigor of our curriculum and our students' thirst for success. Setting the bar high in our program's admission requirements helps maintain those standards from the beginning.

Quick Facts:

Program Application Deadline: February 15
Program Start: Fall Trimester
Cohort Size: 15 students per intake

Step 1: Apply for General Studies Admission

Whether you're a first-time college student or transferring from another school, all on-campus undergraduate applicants must first apply for General Studies admission at AHU.

Step 2: Apply for Program Admission

Note: the competitive nature of the program's admission process means meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

Submit the Nuclear Medicine Technology program application, accessible through my.ahu.edu.

We require a minimum cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 2.70 or 12 college credits from a regionally accredited college with a 2.70 minimum GPA — a cumulative record of all college-level work.

Complete our prerequisite courses by the program start date. Applicants that have completed the prerequisite courses at AHU by the admission deadline will be given preference for program admission.

However, AHU strongly encourages applicants who have ACT and/or SAT scores to submit them during the application process, as this will expedite course placement and enhance academic advising.

Submit two AHU Recommendation Forms. If an AdventHealth University student, one of the two recommendations is suggested to come from any AHU faculty member, adjunct professor, tutoring coordinator, chaplain, or academic advisor.

A background check is required for admission into the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program. The Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and various state licensing agencies require disclosure of all misdemeanor and felony convictions. The results of this background check may impact eligibility for certification and licensure and should be completed in advance of beginning an educational program.

The Nuclear Medicine Technology Program incorporates five consecutive trimesters of clinical education. Students will attend clinicals two to three days a week depending on the trimester. Clinical hours may fall anywhere between 7 am and 5 pm on each assigned day.

  • Students can expect to drive up to 80 miles from the AHU campus to reach their assigned clinical site. Students must obtain their own reliable transportation.
  • No preferential treatment is given to the assignment of clinical sites. We cannot make special accommodations based on the student's address, work schedule, or other personal obligations.
  • In a given trimester, you may be required to rotate to more than 1 clinical site.
