Financial Aid Frequently Asked Questions

Financial aid is funding at the state and federal level that helps students pay for education. There are many kinds of financial aid, including grants, loans and scholarships.

Completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is easier than you might think. Check out the Federal Student Aid website, where you’ll find step-by-step instructions.

You need to apply for a PIN (Personal Identification Number).

• Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov
• Under "Before Beginning a FAFSA" click on "Students and Parents Apply for a PIN"

or

• You can print out the signature page, sign it and mail to the address on the signature page

You can request financial aid before, during or after you apply to school. Students need to apply for financial aid every year, beginning October 1.

We recommend that you have your taxes completed before completing the FAFSA. AdventHealth University awards financial aid from fall through summer.

Applicants typically get a response two to six weeks after AdventHealth University has received all relevant items.

Financial aid will be put on your student account after the end of the add/drop period. We must have all required items first. If the amount of financial aid you are receiving is more than your allowable charges at AHU, the credit balance will be paid to you (or your parents in the case of a Parent PLUS Loan) within 14 days. Any charges incurred after you have received your credit will be your responsibility to pay.

If you have already earned your bachelor's degree, you may be eligible for Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loans, some Endowed Scholarships, and external scholarships.

You will need to:

• Complete the FAFSA for FRAG only
• Complete the AdventHealth University Aid Application
• Complete the Florida Residency Affidavit

• It means we need to confirm the information you or your parent submitted on the FAFSA is accurate. To do that, you may need to submit the following documents:
• Marital Status documentation for you or your parent(s)
• IRS Tax Transcript(s) for you, your parents and/or your spouse or W-2’s
• Untaxed Income Verification documents
• Verification of citizenship or immigrant status
• And other documents as needed to complete the verification process

Your eligibility for financial aid may be recalculated. If you’re taking a class that isn’t the full 14 weeks, please put it in writing that you’re currently attending other courses or plan to attend a future course during the same trimester. Complete withdrawal within the first half of the term will result in a prorated refund back to the financial aid program.

You’ll need to update the Title IV code number, university name and address on your Student Aid Report (SAR). To do this you can,

• Visit the FAFSA website and select FAFSA on the Web. Then click on “Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA”.
• Update your information on your SAR and send it to the Department of Education or to the Financial Aid Office.

here are two offices that can help you with finances.

• The Financial Aid Office processes the financial aid documents you submit. Contact them for questions about the status of your financial aid file, your award notification letter and loans.
• The Business Office receives payments and posts charges to your account, establishes payment plans and sends out your monthly statements. Special billings are also done out of this office.
