Admission to AHU Online’s Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography completion program is open to credentialed sonographers with either an associate degree or a certificate or diploma from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
To apply for the bachelor’s degree program, you will need:
- At least one of the following credentials:
- Registration in Sonography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in AB, OB, VT, and/or AE.
- License from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography.
- License from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in Cardiac Sonography and/or Vascular Sonography.
- A GPA of at least 2.50.
- Official transcripts from all colleges/sonography programs.
Considerations for Sonographers Who Don't Have an Associate Degree
If you are a sonographer with an ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI credential who graduated from an accredited certificate program or who doesn’t have a regionally accredited associate degree, you can apply for the bachelor’s degree program and take bridge courses.
If you are currently enrolled in an A.S. Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ASDMS) program, you can apply to begin the BSDMS. A limited selection of courses will be available to you. Once you complete your associate degree and earn the appropriate ARDMS credential(s), you can enroll in the remaining courses in the Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Enrolling in the bachelor’s program while completing an associate degree shortens the completion time.
You may transfer some credits from courses completed at regionally accredited institutions to the Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. After admission to the program, an official evaluation of all previously completely coursework will be completed to determine which credits can transfer.
Your Admissions Coordinator can answer any questions you have about transferring credits.
