Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey

Wharton MBA, Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, is the CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and has served as the deputy administrator for the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality and the White House Health Care Reform Task Force. In here role at RWJF, Lavizzo-Mourey oversees $10.5 billion in assets. For over 40 years, the foundation has supported public health initiatives such as the establishment of the current 911 system, smoking cessation, hospice care improvement and other causes. Lavizzo-Mourey combines clinical skills and a philanthropic fervor for supporting humanitarian causes that promote enduring advancements.

Dr. Andrew W. Gurman, MD

Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Gurman, served as Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates for the American Medical Association (AMA) and co-chair for the National Business Group on Health Racial/Ethnic Health Advisory Board.

In June 2016, Gurman took the lead as AMA president, drawing attention to the highly charged topics of gun violence, drug abuse and value-based medical reimbursements. In his role as AMA president, Gurman urges Congress to increase spending on gun violence research. He also serves as board liaison to the AMA Advisory Committee on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues.

President Barack Obama

Constituents elected Barack Obama as the third African-American senator and then to President of the United States, holding the latter appointment for two terms spanning between 2009 and 2017. President Obama established the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which is credited with successfully reducing the volume of uninsured from 16 percent to fewer than 10 percent. President Obama also led the drive to transform the Medicare imbursement system from a service reimbursement to a value-based payment model. Although the reforms do not work ideally for all citizens, the former commander in chief succeeded in laying the foundation for universal healthcare that presidents have pursued for many years.

Anthony Tersigni

Anthony Tersigni serves as the CEO of the largest nonprofit Catholic hospital network in the United States, Ascension Health. He has earned a reputation for uniting decision-makers, launching change initiatives and successfully steering medical improvements. Under Tersigni’s leadership, Ascesion Health stands as the first mega health network to waive out-of-pocket payments for consumers who live 250 percent or more below the poverty line.

With nearly four decades of experience, Tersigni forecasts further changes to healthcare as the new president takes office in 2017. He will serve as presidential transition team counsel, while offering his insight on the ACA reforms that work well for U.S. consumers.
